Date Night was formed in 2015 and has three members, Mike Dean, Sharif Darmansjah and Anders David. These three gentlemen all have a history in production and wanted to focus their energy into something real. The result is a band with influences including Crazy P, Chromeo, Kraak & Smaak, Rudimental and The Knocks to name a few.
Date Night’s debut song ‘Always’ was a collaboration with Sydney’s Cam Nacson and is a smooth house groove a nod to early Kaskade songs. The track was instantly snapped up by New York based label ‘KHM Records’ and debuted at #1 on the well respected Kings of Spins chart. Riding of the success, a music video was made with Brisbane director Cohen Medson. The music video was featured on popular music video show RAGE and also added to all Nightlife Music video systems, which are in over 3,000 venues across Australia and New Zealand.
Following up from the debut single, Date Night have collaborated with Chicago singer/songwriter Sam Stephenson, who lays down some live funk guitar on the track, the end result is an upbeat and lively track with huge potential for radio play.
What’s next for Date Night you ask? The gentlemen have been keeping their heads down and writing multiple songs and are well on their way to finishing their first album. The album will span multiple genres with everything from Nu Soul to House to Drum & Bass. In between writing they have been perfecting their live show to ensure that they are ready for what looks to be a promising tour.
